Hair transplant in Germany: how the market actually works

Updated 2026-09-11 · 58 clinics in the index

Public comparison portals count roughly 80–100 physicians and clinics offering hair transplants in Germany. Density is uneven: Düsseldorf has more specialist rooms than much larger cities. Berlin has the most consult desks for surgery abroad.

Three models keep appearing. First: the specialist physician practice, often VDHC-listed, with surgery in the same rooms. Second: the aesthetic group clinic, where hair restoration is one line next to facelifts. Third: the German front-door office that sells an Istanbul or Dubai theatre.

KLAR lists all three, but labels surgery country. A Berlin imprint is not a Berlin theatre. Elithair states this itself: the procedure is at its Istanbul clinic. KÖ-HAIR operates in its Düsseldorf private clinic and keeps consult desks in other cities.

Societies are the hardest public signal. VDHC publishes named members. ISHRS and ABHRS do the same internationally. We count membership only when it appears on the society or clinic page — not because an ad said so.

Aftercare is the underestimated part. Surgery in Germany means the two-week check can be in the same city. A flight to Istanbul needs a plan for week two — not only an airport transfer.
